Voters Rebellion for GE16 Starts in N. Sembilan. We are Calling It!
Show Notes & Description
We've let the N9 Elections Edition settle down for a couple of days and now our domestic and geopolitical expert Jason Leong is going to seriously deep dive on the numbers, the who, the what and the why with me. The time for real change has arrived, if only our voters wake up and seize the day. The typical political party fans are running scared and with that the cyber-trooping machinery will be out in full force. Gutshot don't care.

And not just that, you dumb down on the electorate. You basically treat the electorate as uh as a given that you give the boogymen of BN and of bus. You know, they thought that coming out with the RCI on Tabonghaji 2 days before the election would make an impact. It did not made an impact. Your four years was an utter failure.
Yeah. Welcome to the Gutshot podcast. We've let the night Okay. Okay. All right. Well, okay. Welcome to the gutshot podcast. I'm Sam Shamsul. We are back here today. I'm with Jason Leong, our resident geopolitics and domestic consulting expert.
Thank you. Well, we've let the Nris Milan election uh uh wrap-up edition settle down for a couple of days. Today, me and Jason is going to seriously deep dive on the numbers, the who, the what, and the why. We are also going to address some commentaries in the last episode we got from viewers to me and say Akbar on the previous episode. Now I have a Chinese perspective Jason to provide the audience a different point of view. We think we are going to provide an enlightened view to our audience without any fear or favor. As always, Gutshot is the place where you get fair commentary and
we don't pull any punches. So uh what we going to uh what what what we have here is that uh uh we do not care about uh what the politicians may want to say Jason. All right. Or how they want to or how they want to put a spin to to this. You can watch the the the politicians uh podcast and their commentaries but over here you get a Malaysian point of view right and you know it's enough decades of them you know at our expense for the most part they are all the same but let me tell you guys what we see as a result of this election time for real change has arrived
if only our voters wake up and seize the day. So Jason, I want to open up the floor to you for the first observation. Uh and let us peel through the layers of onion. Even it's going to make you and I cry or the audience cry. All right, ladies and gentlemen, here comes Gutshot. Jason.
Yeah, I mean we call it as a in gutshot. uh I'm not a politician and uh basically I analyze things and I give it a no holes but perspective. So whatever it is sometimes the truth hurts but the truth is the truth. All right start with the main the body count. Uh Anthony Lo was the major casualty at the neg state election. He lost Chenna that was his fourth run actually. So it was a seat which he was very comfortable with and he lost it. Yes. But he lost it to a first time MCA candidate. The the the the loss the margin um official estimates don't seem to have come out
yet. Official numbers don't seem to have come that we we seem to see that between 400 to 600 votes that he lost. But the previous uh election he won the seat by about 2,200 votes. Now many people think and say that uh Anthony looks lost in China is because of the ammo PN or AMNO pass BNPN collaboration electoral pack that forced the Malay votes to come out and uh to vote against Anthony Lo. I don't think it's so simple as that. Uh Anthony Lo himself will need to bear some blame and responsibility for this. Now take a look at the demographics of China.
Mhm. Demographics of China is that there are 48% Malay voters plus 44% Chinese voters, 2% of Indian voters and 6.3% of Orurangley voters. Note the water demographic for the Chinese voters is at 44%. That's a pretty high demographic for Chinese voters. Now if you look at historical historically in the whole of Malaysia there are 28 Chinese majority seats which means that there are seats which has 50% or more Chinese voters and out of the 28 Chinese majority seats in in Malaysia 26 of these seats have been won by the DAP. So these are like solid DAP fortress
fortress. Yeah. and and then there are another 16 seats with Chinese voters forming the composition of 40% to 49%. Substantial Chinese voters there are 16 seats. Out of these 16 seats, DAP has won 10 of those seats. Now that means basically if you find a seat with that kind of demographic between 40% to 50% or more this is likely to be won by DAP. China falls exactly there 44% Chinese and yet Anthony Lo lost. So at the very least on a very fair basis I think Anthony look should bear at least 25% uh the reason for not being able to win China uh because there are at least four
factors. The first factor would be yes the Malay swing uh to BNPN that is probably 25% I would attribute it that caused the loss of Anthony in China. The second one is that there is a chi a low Chinese turnout whether it is in protest of DAP or the Chinese voters decided to just target the secretary general of DAP Anthony Lo and refuse to turn out in full in China and so that is again partly on the DAP and the Chinese voters and on Anthony Milo and the third factor is that there this this great anti-incumbent feeling or federal anti-federal sentiment currently
uh against the PH and also candidate specific issue against the candidate himself Anthony Lo himself if you go down to China and you ask the people in China how often has Anthony Lo actually visit Chenna and
take care of the people in China he is actually rarely there because he's a federal minister and uh he will take care mainly of his constituency maybe in suran but even that not very often in China itself so people don't see him right so the local sentiment is not with him so that that is not uh anybody's fault but the candidate himself enter himself and then there is of course uh the other 25% is due to the uh BNP kind of strength uh machinery this is the barisan and basically actually it's noan past local campaign strength which has actually been mobilized very well and
they have done very well campaigning so so out of this there's these four factors Malay swing low Chinese turn now anti- incumbent well I I wouldn't call it anti-inccumbent I would call it because why the incumbency is only about three and a half years long
right And 2018 actually is a continuation of the 2018 wave. Yes. Right. Uh say what you want. They've been in government since 2018.
Yeah. Right. Which means that you have not performed. That is the other portion that I think you've been too kind Jason. I am of the opinion that the performance has been pathetic. And not just the performance but they have not only underperforming is actually an understatement. It is actually willful negligence of not performing. And the rayad the whether it is Chinese or whether it is Malay if you were to ask me both voted with their feet and also with their thumb.
Yeah true. It is a combination of both and they're sending a message for Anthony Lope to say get out. Sorry, I'm I'm being I'm being very honest. I'm not anti- DAP, guys.
All right, continue. I'm calling it a spade as a spade. Yes, that's right. Um but we also should uh well I think well how many% are we talking about with respect to the uh Chinese vote Chinese demographic in China? I don't think it's 40 is it
44%. This actually very high. Yeah 44%. It's almost like you know half of the the voters are Chinese and Malay. Yeah Malay is at 48%. Right. Right. So that that is it. So the the Chinese
and the Malays has been voting for him for how many? For four terms. For four terms, guys. So please don't blame the Malay electorate for swinging towards pass or swinging towards PN.
Yeah. Okay. They swung to MCA. Mhm. Let's get real to all you cyber troopers and all you die hard uh what do you call trying to blame us for telling the truth. Go on please.
You see in any election campaign people forget there are two parts of it. One is that there is the pull factor and there's the push push factor. Correct. The pull factor is that the candidate becomes very attractive and whatever he says resonates with people and people say oh we love him we will vote for him. We will support him. That's the that's the pull factor. But the push factor actually is much stronger. that is candidates who simply process that kind of character or personality that is actually quite repulsive. So the repellence factor is is very important.
So there are actually two the resistance factor people will find certain resistance in voting certain candidate because I don't kind of don't like him but there are some candidates which will really rub you the wrong way. The moment he opens his mouth, you know, I say this guy, we hate him. It is totally repulsive and that is repellent and people will will not want you the other side.
I I I think there's the other part throughout this whole villain election, right? Which is the erosion of the uh of the votes towards the AB. Yes, it is an absolute erosion.
Yes. Right. It started in in Sabah. We saw it continue in the Joho. And we are seeing it in what I call the bell weather state in the G Milan where we have a reasonable mix of race and uh and composition of our Malaysian electorate.
Yeah. Right. So, so this is not just a a judgment on the leadership of the secretary general. They are they are they they are able to hang on to what like nine state nine constituency.
Nine seats. Yes. Nine seats. Right. On an eroded uh uh what do you call u uh an an eroded support and this nine constituencies I think had it been longer you may even had seen a lot more falling down. Yeah,
they are pretty lucky that the election happened earlier. True. Because uh if you look at Joho, DAP lost four seats to the MCA, right? Uh so that was actually already shows that there is an erosion of support for the DAP. Whether that erosion of support uh is out of anger like I said the repellance factor or is it MCA is effective? I think it's more towards the repellance factor. Right.
People vote the MCA or the BN not so much that they are probn or very pro- nostalgic BN or MCA but they simply cannot take it that the current administration or the current DAP stance is becoming totally unattractive and they have failed the expectations of many Chinese voters. Jason, do you you have further to say on that or shall I slide on the BN factor and look at the other uh the other constituency? Sure. which is the which is the the Matri Bas the ex Mantry Bas constituency where um Priatan um uh lost uh sorry won uh by a,300 majority approximately right um that is
uh that is claw am I am I right yeah that is in in lingi sorry in um is it is that in Lingi. Lingi in Lingi. This is Amin the
Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. I'm going to go to Clawang later. So let's talk about Lingi right where the mantra bas or the ex Mantri Basa lost. Okay. Can you give a comment on that before I jump it? Yeah, I mean Amin Nudin Harun is from PKR and he is actually a two-term metropasa and he decided to move his she's uh seat from Sikat Sikkamat and to go into Lingi for the first time. Uh he has held Sikama his previous constituency for four terms. He was very comfortable there but he decided to make this move. Many people don't really understand why he moved to Lingi to
Lingi and he lost to Barasa Nationals Faizal Ramli. He is. This is basically a case of a caretaker Metropasa, a PKR vice president who has lost his own seat. And this to me seems to be a clear and unambiguous reputation of the PKR uh in terms of leading a state like Negrit Miland. And uh truly many people don't understand how come a a good so-called wellperforming Montreasa for Milan can even lose. Well, the entire machinery of PKR was really in a mess and broken. Even the deputy president of PKR Nuru is hardly seen at the campaign trail. And uh despite all
the uh best intentions and uh uh virtual presence of PMX or Anoa, Ano was there for almost every day of the campaign. I wonder whether his his uh his uh presence there help or actually damage the the the uh the uh uh the the the the cause of uh of of of PTR itself. I mean I I I think about the quote of of you know no matter how what happened to Narris Milan, I'm still the prime minister. I was like taken aback. I'm like, "What the hell are you talking about, dude?" You know, I mean, let's be honest with ourselves. What has gotten in the head? Okay. I mean,
you are telling the voters in the Grease Milan basically it's like you don't have to vote for me. You don't have to vote for my party respect uh uh effectively. I'm still the prime minister. I Dude, I don't know where you get this bloody idea that this is a good idea. That is so insulting to the voters. You know what do you think?
Well, obviously the campaign messaging needs to be improved upon. It's not campaign messaging has to be improved upon. Is the way of is the thinking has to be improved upon. But actually maybe there was nothing there to be improved upon anyway you know. So here we have a mantri basar as I had with the last the previous episode as you saw I was say right
and um and and we said it we thought Milan was performing well as a state and here we are the mantri bas lost. Yes. Right. And people keep saying oh and and there were commentaries that says that oh we are probn dude we are protruuth okay and the protruuth is actually when you have four years of not performing in terms of the aspiration of the riad because we have said it before and I've said it before the election we say it and I'm saying it I think with Jason today okay they did not deliver what they promised, promises made, promises unc. And not just that, you dumb down on the
electorate. You basically treat the electorate as uh as a given that you give the boogeyman of BN and of bus. You know, they thought that coming out with the rci on tabi 2 days before the election would make an impact. It did not made an impact. Your four years was an utter failure.
Yeah. So I mean look, let's dive a bit into uh he was what at Sigat before, right? In his previous Sikamat, right? Sikat four terms.
Four terms Sigamat. How did the the the constitu constituency of Sikamat went? S Kamad also fell also fell. So the the one that the Matri Basa held by PKR for four terms also fell. That tells you something about the state of PKR itself and its national leadership. We've said it that this is a national referendum. you know there's really not much uh with respect to the local issues that are being battled upon.
This is basically a national referendum. I mean it it's quite surprising because Sikamat was contested by a candidate from Wawasan uh the the the newest party in town kind of.
That's another interesting part isn't it? Yeah. Perikatan Wasan is under of course Hamza Zudin. They just bought over a party and they rebranded themselves and this was the first outing actually because they skipped the Joho state election. They came in for Nikit Milan. They contested four seats. They won three.
Yes. And the candidate Razali Abusamat contested Sikamat and they beat the PKL candidate by about 4,000 votes. Soundly. Let me put it. The beat down was soundly. When we told you guys in the previous episode, we said that this is a massacre.
It is an absolute bloodbath. Okay. Yeah. So now there was another constituency that I want to focus on before we go on an overall okay
review of things unless you have another one. But I was looking at Clawang before uh the election actually in the pre previous episode where Dani Res won with a majority of 1,300 plus votes.
Yes. Right. Beating U Brasatu Adus which basically just got 549 votes. Yes. Uh Clawang is actually interesting. Uh so I just take this.
Please take this on. Uh this to to congratulate Danny Rice who is my personal friend. So of uh what do you call this is uh what what do you call this? Um um full full disclosure.
Full disclosure, right? So well uh it wasn't his first outing. He contested uh a seat in uh Nris Milan before previously and he lost by about 500 votes. That was the last state election. But this time around he got clawang and I think he did very well and he managed to win this time and uh so he's a young man of course people know him that Danny Rice is a son of Tani Ra is that him so Danny shout out to you congratulations well done and and he won by,300 seat uh 300 votes which is uh another of those uh candidates from Wawasan. So here you are Clawang. And so
now we can see that there are number of issues where u the PH government or PKR has lost ground partly because uh as I look at it many of the voters have voiced concern and unhappiness that the bread and butter issues the high cost of living issues is not really taken care of by the incumbent government and it tends to hurt whoever is in charge that is the current government And of course among the Chinese uh voters uh the e invoice the uh income tax issues.
Yeah. Uh invoice is one of the stupidest thing you guys have ever done. Okay. You put additional cost on small businesses and medium businesses and even slightly larger businesses.
Yes. Okay. It is it is uh it is draconian. It cost a lot of money. It cost a lot more bureaucracy and it actually damages business. All for what? For a contract.
Go on, my friend. Not everybody gets that contract. Yes. You must remember that 90% ofmemes in Malaysia are basically Chinese dominated, Chinese control, small medium enterprises. And these are the one that hurt the most because they get to do the invoice. It adds on this layer of administrative burden on them in terms of the cost of doing business and they don't like the fact that everything else is now linked to the LHDN and the tenure saying that again you know we are now facing uh as extra stress trying to uh you know account everything to the LHDN. So the
income tax issue is a major issue for a lot of Chinese uh voters. In fact, I have been advocating to in the previous administration that uh our income tax uh administration or enforcement, we should just give it uh we try to do a longer amnesty. We I think the income tax tried to do that but it's too short sometime an amnesty of 6 month give an amnesty for 2 years no question asked just come forward pay whatever you want and just declare and come out with even an installment scheme and we accept it because there are many many businesses out there which are the
underground business. This is what we call the black economy where none of them wants to declare any income tax. uh whether the chicken rice seller or the cho manu or the football bookie or some people running some uh uh illegal operations here and there but many of them wants to pay income tax right some of some of them will will go to the extent of going to uh to ging and try to buy some casino chips and to cash out and say that they want the money
Jason here's the other thing that I've been banging hate banking on gutshot every time. Okay, not just I think our taxes need to better streamline and even lower it. Okay, because why? We need to stimulate the economy. The other part that actually we have to look at is is actually our banking system itself. Our banking system are not providing liquidity to our small and medium businesses. Don't talk all this grand scheme about ESG. All this grand scheme about DEI. Okay. Our banking system is choking our businesses that they having to run to along. We need to open up because why? I can tell
you the very simple reason why this banking system is not liberalized. Because is in the choke hole of our GLIC. Yeah. All right. We no longer have, and I'm a Malaysian, it doesn't matter. We no longer have our old Chinese medium scale banks all over the country. Those were killed off. All right. Those banking system would have provided the the the liquidity for whether it is Chinese, Indian, Malay, Iban, Kadazan, businesses all over the country at every other nook and cranny of the country has evaporated. And then what do we have? We have institutional government linked
investments controlling this banking system. Okay. In an oligopoly and now we want to even control how that how everything is sorted out through one QR system. Something never seems to change in terms of oligopy and monopolies in this in this country. People are fed up. So why you know I mean
I I just let me add on on that the banking part is very true because today one of the biggest segment of business that is really flourishing is the lone shark business.
Yeah these are the along business. Why are they flourishing? Because somehow everyone businessman who needs some kind of loan uh that is easy that is not too difficult to apply for the banks have failed them. So they have no choice but to go to the along. And now the along is doing good business. But this is at an expense because at a higher rate of interest and many of them will will probably get stuck. But then this is where the government could have done and provide much easier credit, give instructions to the banks to liberalize and make it easier to apply no matter
who you are. You know, everybody needs a break, you know. I mean, uh I mean this is the purpose of today compared to uh uh the previous episode we had on on understanding the Gris Milan uh election results which is to go a bit deeper down the layer uh of the onion and see where and what is happening really on the ground.
Yeah. I mean you can inject back again to any of the other constituency if you want to but let's let's let's take it back uh take not take a step back but actually let's peel another layer you know and let's cry on that layer right this onion is very p you know um the thing that I saw going down in uh I was down in Port Nixon if you guys follow Gutshot a lot I was down in Port Nixon I I was in Lingi, I was in uh the town. Um um and um here's what I I keep hearing from people. Locals got no jobs, okay? Their wages are stagnant. All right? They see abandoned buildings for decade.
They are unhappy. And now when they talk about uh the national issues, I can see the pable anger. Yes. You know, and people don't realize it. Okay. For people who say that, you know, you myself maybe say we are somehow pro uh Parisad National or pro- ABNO or uh anti- DAP. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. We are pro-Ray. Okay. Yeah.
And the pro riot is very simple. If you don't perform, we have said this again and again myself say yourself J P uh and and say if they don't perform, kick them out. All right. Kick them out. We don't care. We'll try the other side again. All right. We will try even pass. There's no longer the boogeyman of pass as far as I'm concerned because why? If pass does not realize that actually religion doesn't sell but uh what do you call kamajan sells all right
tomorrow we'll kick him out you know and this is what happened even past one you you remember during a trip to Port Dixon right oh yeah we were together
I was there with you and we asked a question to uh to some of the pot Dixon locals I say when was the last time you saw a new factory being built in Port Dixon or even uh that area and they say we have never seen it for the past 10 years. Not a single new factory has been built.
Yeah. So that means where are the opportunities? Why are there no new business, no new factories being built in uh at this Bixon which is actually a thriving town. So that is already a reflection.
Well, there was site mentioned a semiconductor factory or an electronics factory built somewhere so uh a bit far away. I don't know when that will ever you know but in pix itself that was all we heard.
Yeah. There was no opportunities, no new business, no jobs. So the sentiment on the ground is there's a lot of dissatisfaction. Uh the expectations are not met. Yeah. So do not blame us for pointing the truth to you guys. Okay, Mr. government do not blame us for pointing the truth about how you guys have actually failed the riot. All right? They're going to go back to uh uh uh to M uh to MCA, APNO, MIC, uh BN, you know, because why they're going to try again say what we want, right? Let know maybe I'll remind everybody, okay, when Mahade was in charge in his earlier days, we had
growth in Malaysia. Everybody, every racist actually b had a benefit out of it. Okay. Then yes, it turned sour and at the end of the day his predecessor also got kicked out. Right. And then what do what do we and and even when we think about it when Najib was uh was the prime minister
there was a pable increase in growth in the economy. Yes. Right. Unfortunately, the corruption scandal Yeah. got him. So, they got kicked out.
Today, ask yourself, what have you really not done and what exactly has angered the public? And I tell you something about the DAP seats that are retained. This is my prognosis. Okay. The Chinese are just trying to figure out do I truly back up back up another uh MCA to the fully or is there another party I'm going to back up or another group of people that just not the Chinese but also the non-Malays the liberal progressive Malays like myself are asking ourself what are the choices we have now when it comes for time for you and me to vote. Mark my word. Okay. The game is different.
True. Yeah. I think you're right when you mentioned during the Nanji administration, there were a lot of uh intentional projects. They call him the entry point projects that was part of the uh economic transformation. There were hundreds if not thousands of these projects that was rolled up. So that is where I say I keep saying hope is not enough. You need to give opportunities to people and opportunities to do business, opportunities to make money. Yeah. And of course,
and an opportunity for every Malaysian to have the same level of uh uh uh what do you call merit qualification to enter educational opportunities. That's another big problem that you guys have never addressed. You can't even get a quorum to pass a twotterm prime ministership. Come on. I think that is the worst scam ever. Sorry. I'm I'm I'm I'm being I'm not being emotional. I am trying to tell you guys the passion that I feel on the ground when we visited Sman. Uh sorry when we visited uh Ngris Milan when we visited uh uh what do you call Lingi you know this is what I saw and there was no
question in our mind when we did the episode on the eve of the election what we're going to see delivered true enough it came through it was a route Jason what else do you see that we want to uh we want to peel this onion because now what we are seeing is actually the national agenda is coming right to the next stage. I'm not sure when Mala is coming up as a state election.
Well, it's very soon because obviously Masa Mala Ralph will take advantage of this momentum. Momentum is very important in politics. Yeah. Oh, not just in politics also in football.
Yes. So now we have the momentum in negrism land. So maca will come very very close. So maybe the next two weeks or within a month the election will be called. Do you think do you think in in in light of the current situation the prime minister will call for dissolution of government so that a GE16 can happen earlier or would it happen much later?
I have a a different viewpoint. Many are saying that this will hasten the dissolution of parliament and uh uh PMX will call for an early G16. I don't think so because with the failure I mean you look at what happened in Sabah the AP was totally blackout and then we had Joho again PKR was basically non-existent in Joho AMNO had a landslide victory super majority then we have Milan once again PKR was almost zero only had two seats right so three outings and failures the fourth one is coming ler I assume and I Look at it. The dynamics are the same. I don't think
BKL can make any impact at all in MA. So again, AMNO will be back in power in MA. So every single uh of this uh election outcome points to the fact that there is no necessity for PMX or ANOA to call for an early election. Why rush towards the wave uh when the wave is about to drown you and then you want to rush in and call for a new election GE? No. The way I look at it, he needs all the time in the world. He will run the clock.
He will ride the clock. He will run the clock because the hardline date for uh election is December 19, 2027, which will take it another 60 days all the way to February 2028. My my my assessment on running the clock is is this. I see a football game. I mean, okay, I'm an NFL fan, but I I'm going to give you guys uh uh uh uh uh the pure soccer football uh analogy of actually you're down 6-0. Okay, you are only about uh 20 minutes in and you're down 6-0. All right, and you want to run the clock. Um, if I'm not mistaken, Egypt tried to do that with Argentina to a certain extent. Um,
uh, uh, but, uh, you can see who was controlling the game. Yeah. U but then again if you really look at it right the clock may not be the idea may not be a good idea either because the other the the other part is the other side is actually gaining strength to strength that's number one number two I think the problem that is in within PKR with the breakup with of Rafi and also their machinery. I I I'm not sure how that machinery work within PKR. The leadership does not change in DAP. I don't think uh Anthony Lo is going to let go of his leadership. I don't think
the the systemic issues within the AP or within PKR is or Pakistan Harapan is ever going to change until the next GE because systemic issues usually require um a an almost revolution within a party. Okay. Um, so I the only thing that comes to mind is make hay while you can before the run the clock runs out, right? And that's going to anger the people more.
Well, it's a Hopson's choice because what choice does PMX has? Because if he calls for early election now, well, I think based on the momentum that has been shown in the past few state election, he's going to lose. So why why go in for election when you know that the likelihood of losing is there. So might as well run the clock and then make as uh take advantage of the the budget coming up. So we're going to have a nice election budget in uh October this year.
Oh, he's going to send out a lot of logis out to the to the to to what he believes is uh his base which is the uh which is the civil service the Malay uh rural votes you know my my word on that you're going to see a lot of that a lot more uh bonuses and subsidies probably going to come out. I'm speculating. Don't say I I'm making it a firm thing but you know it doesn't take a genius.
Yeah. I mean I mean did it work in Milan ladies and gentlemen? So I think well it's not not just PMX. I mean any other prime minister who is in this situation or any other party will make use of the the budget as an election budget.
Right. Let let's let's call a pause here. I would like to uh encourage everybody at this stage because we're going to talk about I think Bersa Bersatu uh we're going to talk about what's coming up and what exactly this mean for the future of the electorate and how this can actually revolutionize I see a revolution coming up with respect to uh uh uh elections in Malaysia. Okay. So before we go to that, I would like to remind everybody if you like what you hear uh and you enjoy the kind of conversations that are unfiltered uh that you will find nowhere else in this country, please subscribe
and like our episodes at the gutshot. I would like to say again our 8th August u uh live podcast. Jason, you're going to be joining me as well on that live podcast on Saturday. Um uh we're going to we're looking forward to meet all our audience that has got their seats. It was sold out pretty fast. Uh one day we hope we'll get a bigger uh a bigger venue to to hold uh a bigger and more um uh more vibrant. But that is going to be an interesting uh conversation. Now let's get back to where we were at. Okay. Um
one election budget, maybe even two election budget. So the next one is in October or September 2027. So I said that's why run the clock get the maximum advantage out of the election budget hopefully can gain some ground. Aha. Well, I think sometimes, you know, all the money in the world can't buy you things, you know. Uh ladies and gentlemen, you think about it, right? The two interesting facts I've mentioned uh in the previous uh episode, which is uh how um Bersatu actually uh strategically did played their card right. And uh hats off to uh how Hamza uh Zudin had actually uh uh played the
cut rights together with Abno and pass right now. The question I have to ask past uh past leadership is please come on the gutshot. I want to see how you guys want to uh want to improve the country and uh tell us you know I'm not anti-Islam. Okay. I want to see the country actually um uh uh be successful no matter who is in a position of power. Be it AMNU, be BN, be it PH, be it whomever,
uh Wawasan did a incredible strategic job under Hamza Zudin. Yeah. Um, Basama on the other hand, okay, with a lot of euphoric uh I felt um among the uh progressive and uh and and and uh minority that were uh this illusion with what uh uh PH has come to them actually was wiped out. The the support were definitely were were not there. So I think strategically from the leadership it did they did not translate or maybe the strategy was completely out of whack with what uh is uh uh should have been carried out. uh that itself to me was one of my main concern about how uh uh
how Bama was going to perform you know. Um so I think in terms of if you were to ask me do you want to add to that before I go to the other layer of where I see we are going. Yeah, I think well those of us who are staying in the Bangsa bubble so to speak the urban areas and we hear a lot about Rafi and his new party Basama people get very excited. There was a lot of enthusiasm in Johor and uh but they did not contest in Nish Milan and uh there was some enthusiasm in the sense that hopefully now Rafizzy leads the way for the the third way so to speak uh progressive moderate but somehow uh I
look at it I don't think Rafi is able to to govern that kind of energy for the third Okay. Um there there is a certain failure because somehow the numbers are not there and at the same time even muta under site sadic uh had a collaboration with PSM party socialist and they call themselves the block progressive progressive block and they ran in Joho but they too were totally obliterated. The only seat that Muda had in Joho also gone lost
right. So sadik himself whether it is muda site sadik basama rafizi none of them is able to show that kind of leadership that points to a uh sustainable third way where there is this leadership that is progressive. So there is a space that is already open. There's a vacuum there for somebody to come in and show the way that this is the way forward because Rafi himself has a lot of baggage because he was many years with Anoa and he was many years in PKR and he was a minister. So the question is always point blank posed to him is that what did you do when you had
all the power? What have you achieved? So now you are out of the party you say that you want to do this you want to do that can I believe you where your your record itself does not show that kind of leadership right so is is now it's actually open so the the is now open territory so maybe people like you can go in and take that that vacuum that space
the the the thing that I find it very interesting when people uh make excuses you know uh in governance that uh in one year they cannot achieve anything as a minister. Let me make it very blood. It's hogwash. Okay. It's hogwash that you cannot make a you cannot make substantial change uh when you are a minister without cabinet approval because as a minister you have a certain prerogative and a certain authority bequeaf to you by law that you can actually implement. All right. The fact that you cannot deliver within 12 months is pathetic. I guarantee you if I held a minister
post, I will deliver something that will shock the country in 6 months. That is as easy as I can say. That is actually being very very uh generous. Okay, guys.
Yeah. All right. Now having said that, okay, I think you've opened the door to this kind of discussion. I see a trench opening up. Okay, this reminds me of the final scene in Star Wars where actually they found uh the trench and the jets went the rebel jets went in to shoot down the core of the desktop. This is what I'm seeing. Okay. And I think you saw the same thing. All right. In fact, if you look at the young people, the first uh the the the first contest the the the the first term contestant that won against giants
in the Negri Samilan election. It is telling you one thing. There is a space for new faces that can bring change. All right. With the right strategy. I absolutely see this happening coming for GE16. So GE16 ladies and gentlemen to me is going to be earth shattering. All right. And you know it's also the strategy and this is why I was very disappointed on how Bersama had carried out their strategy. I would never for the life of me contested any of the adun seats.
Yeah. Right. To be very frank, I think when I look at what happened uh in Sarawang, I mean we are so peninsula centric. I've said before uh and I've said uh in my collaboration with sitas on her podcast, my heart will always be in Miris. All right. Okay. the place where my daughter was born and I built uh uh my oil and gas career. All right? You know, look at what is happening in in in Sra. You know, the premier has the guts to say we're going to teach in English. The premier has the guts to say we're going to focus on STEM. We're going to progress the the state. Okay.
So we are seeing that the east Malaysian sides Sabah and Straa are making progress. we got even whilst he is in opposition you know um uh uh uh the previous chief minister well they're trying to I guess you know I don't want to be subjudice in any kind but you know uh the first ever politician in Malaysia who has the balls in Shavei Abdal to say that you know we are not here to um uh for for one uh race or one religion. We are here to build one nation. This is where the trench warfare is going to come from. This is where the trench warfare will appear and I think
new faces will start to appear and bring this flag to you. you know and whether that is supported with a change in any form of government s been telling DAP get out of PH. All right. I think they should listen to him. Okay. I want to have this is a very fair uh this uh a very fair podcast. I want to hear pass. I want to hear amno. I want to hear ph. I want to hear bras. We are very open here and we want to hear your views and come on board here. You know we have the voice. We have the subscribers. Now tell your MPs this is the place for you to come and make a
case for your position and even new people who wants to enter into you know changing the country. Right Jason, it's time we make this change. Yes, of course. Uh change is uh good because um there will be transformation and uh but one thing may I probably disagree with say is that I don't that is site's recommendation to the AP to get out of
Yes. Yes. Yes. I I don't expect the two of you. I don't see the AP doing that. No, you know is saying to them, okay, get out. Get out. But neither of us actually even you don't think they will ever get out.
No, because they they have a August 16 u big congress meeting to Oh, you mean they having uh they they they having a a makan mak.
Uh no. DAP is having this congress meeting. No, no, no. I call it a bakan mak. I call it a baka makan. What congress are you talking about? They having a mak in a nice hotel. You already know what is the
So, as I said, Maka, don't talk about anything. I mean, it's a is a is a nice way is a nice place to uh uh what do you call waste your time, you know? They're not doing any They're not pulling out a PH. They're not I mean, come on, man. Anthony Lo already say he's not pulling out a PH. So, why even bother, brother?
That's right. And neither would he quit his cabinet position. Of course, none of them will quit. Why should they quit? Because leaving now will cost DAP a lot of uh cab a lot of perks.
Well, perks is it goes without saying the cabinet leverage is not there anymore. The influence over policy is no longer there. What policy, man? The influence over actuallyh being able to walk around calling yourself
YB Mry. Yeah. You know, you know what? I think I think at this stage before we close out, I want to touch something which is this uh some of the commentaries in our podcasts has said has talked about the BNPN blue wave. Maybe can we touch a bit on that? Is that what we really seeing? Um well, I think negate election prove one thing. It is not about the popular vote. It is about seat efficiency. seat efficiency uh is actually maximized when Barisan or AMO decide to collaborate with Bas and Perikatan. So this has ganvanized a kind of a maximization of Malay Muslim narrative and numbers
because most of the time previous elections the Malay votes were kind of split into three directions amno and uh another direction PKR or another party. So this time around they have decided to join hands and a non-aggression pack that mean they don't contest against each other. Um Amno BN took 25 seats and they left 11 seats for PN and pass. So there was no contest and uh against each other and that has resulted in a wonderful uh
two3 majority two3 majority. So that happened in Joho. This one happened in Gris Milan. Uh the difference between Joho and Gris Milan is that I was in Joho watching the pass missionary. Pass did not win anything in Joho because they virtually did not even campaign for themselves. They were only campaigning for AMNU. But in nis Milan they mobilized their own machinery and I saw that they were campaigning for themselves in the five seats that were they were contesting in and uh of course helping uh Amno to cont uh to to campaign as well. So both the Amno machinery and the pass machinery was
very well run in the Greek Milan and eventually pass contested five seats and they won four out of the five which was actually very good. Well, the fifth seat they contested was uh in a Chinese majority constituency. Don't expect to win.
So, basically, the way I see it is uh the way you and I see it is basically it's a it's a it's it's it's basically a strategic win rather than a wave uh of a of of of a swing uh by the by by a so-called blue wave. you know, it's a is a is a win on strategy. Uh, and there goes again when I talk about um how Bersatu or Bersa uh reflectively um and and and and also Wawasad um the fa the the the failure of the two and the success of one is also a strategy win.
Yeah. you know uh in effect that's the trench warfare the trench that is open up for anybody who can understand how to play this strategy right uh with that uh Jason um I think we've come to uh quite a long um deep dive and peeling of the onion of this election which is a a great parameter for whatever that is coming uh anybody who has tears uh after all the peeling of onions. I'm I apologize but actually these are something that we all have to face with the reality that it's a good thing that we have uh we see that the voters make their mark. I think that if anything I
take back I take from this election the voters make their mark. The politicians got what they deserve. the politicians are now also even those who won are being put on notice. Okay, with that I would like to thank you Jason for joining us and our audience.
Yeah. Right. And I thank you all for joining us. I hope you have had an enjoyable time with us uh in this uh in this podcast. Join us again at the gut shop.
